Rory had just lost his little girl, kidnapped by Kovarian. Then he found out River Song was his daughter and that was the end of all he knew. All he did was fall asleep. He didn't even remember falling, hitting the ground. He fell asleep on Demon's Run, where his wife and daughter were, and then he woke up. He was on some street, actually lying in the middle of the road. When he realized that, he quickly jumped up, afraid he might get run over or something. Once out of the road, he noticed that no cars were coming. In fact, there were no cars around at all. It was empty, silent.
There were people walking around, so this place had people living there. Good. Maybe they could help him explain why he was here and how he had gotten here. Rory would think that The Doctor did something, but he knew that wasn't the case. Because he hadn't been in the TARDIS when it happened, The Doctor hadn't been around when it happened, and he was alone. No Doctor, River or Amy, it seemed. It was horrible. He was trapped on a deserted island without his wife. Okay, not a deserted island. There were people around, just not the ones he'd like to see.
He started walking up the street. If he couldn't find anyone that might be able to help him, at least Rory should be able to find a sign that told him where he was. From there he could figure out how to get back to Demon's Run and being reunited with his wife and daughter. He was confident there was a way off the island. If there was a way on, there was a way off. Even if he couldn't find a way back, The Doctor would. He had to believe that until he found out otherwise.
